Picture the scene: the sun is shining, the air is warm, and you are relaxing under a wide, shady tree, simply breathing in all that life has to offer. Sound tempting? Then let's bring this scene to life in just a few short, simple steps!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.
Start with a black fineliner, and draw a wavy, almost "W" shaped line, in the right half of your page.
2.
From the left end of this, add another wavy line. Take this across to the left, up, across to the right, and then back down to the end just below the end of your original line. This will be the outline of your tree.
3.
Add a "V" shape to the bottom of the original line, and then bring a curved line down to the left of this. Then, add another "V" shape to the right, and a longer curved line to the right of this, bumping this in slightly – these are the twigs and trunk of your tree.
4.
Add a wavy line just below the tops of the "V" shapes…

And then add a series of small "teardrop" shapes all across the bottom section of your tree.
6.
Now, add a small "3" shape just below the left line – the top curve of this should be elongated.
7.
From the top of the "3", bring a line across and down towards the bottom of the page.
8.
Add a small "C" shape to the front of this, creating the hair and the face of your girl.
9.
Add a "Z" shape inside the face for an eyebrow and nose, and another curved line for the second eyebrow.
10.
Now, add two dots below the eyebrows for eyes, and a curve at the bottom for a wide smile.

Add a "reverse D" shape to the bottom of the face, creating the top of the neck…
12.
And then bring two curved, parallel lines across to the left. Add two points to the end of this for a hand.
13.
Add a short, vertical line to the top of the arm for a sleeve. Then, add a small bump below this, and a short, angled line below this to start creating the outline of the body.
14.
Now, bring a curved line down from the back of the neck, and curve this towards the left.
15.
Add another hand to the end of this for a hand, and then bring another line across for the top of the arm. Add a short line for a sleeve.
16.
Now, add another curved line emerging from the one at the front, and then bring another line up to meet the back arm. Then, add another curve to the left of the right sleeve.
17.
Add another curved line from the top left corner to the bottom of the arm. Add another arrow shape just to the right of the hand.
18.
Bring another wide arrow shape below this, and connect them at the end to create a leg…
19.
Add two stripes to each leg for shorts.
20.
Add another curve to the bottom of the leg, and add a short angled line above this.
21.
Now, add a curved shape to the end of the leg to create a foot…
22.
And add a strip along the bottom of this for the sole. Then, add a few short, straight lines across the top for laces.
23.
Now, add a large "puddle" shape all around the bottom of the girl and the base of the tree.
24.
Add small groups of three marks all across the surface, and add a jagged tuft of grass to the base of the tree.
25.
Now, use a light green pen for the grass and the main leaves of the tree…
26.
And a brown pen for the trunk and branches.
27.
Fill in the girl's shirt with an orange pen.
28.
Use a blue pen for her shorts…
29.
And then carefully shade her hair with a brown pencil.
30.
Finally, grab a light orange pencil to fill in her arms, face, and legs.
And just like that, you have brought a soothing, relaxing scene to life – if you close your eyes, you can almost hear the hum of summer…
